FAQ on Anxiety

Please reach us at juliana@therapy-help.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Anxiety triggers your body's "fight or flight" response, releasing stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol. This physiological reaction can make it difficult to think clearly or use calming techniques effectively, especially if you're not practiced in managing it. This may also be compounded by past trauma experiences which adds to the level of distress.

  1. Timing: If you're in the middle of a panic attack or high anxiety, it can be harder to implement techniques.
  2. Lack of Practice: Relaxation strategies like deep breathing or mindfulness require consistent practice to be effective in high-stress moments.
  3. Mismatch: Not all techniques work for everyone. What works for one person may not work for another.

Anxiety is not something you can always control, and struggling to calm down doesn’t mean you’re failing—it means you’re human. Many people feel this way, but it’s important to challenge these thoughts and practice self-compassion.  Progress with anxiety isn’t always linear. Some days will be harder than others, and that’s okay.
